UConn Homies, Student Friends of the Homer Babbidge Library

I invented the UConn Homies while working the front desk at the Homer Babbidge Library. I also met Nick Helber – the ultimate hype man – at the front desk. Nick helped me get the Homies off the ground and served as my Vice President. In addition to founding the organization, I served as President from 2016-2017 (my last year at UConn).

In 2017, the Homies took part in UConn’s Ignite fundraising competition. We raised $1,202 for the library. We increased the membership roster from 4 to 24, returned 162 user surveys and hosted 3 major events.

The head of UConn Library communications invited me to co-present at the Boston Library Consortium Annual Meeting in 2017 as co-presenter in a presentation titled “Promoting the UConn Library with Student Advocacy”.

The Homies still have an active (and often hilarious) social media presence.

Digital Media to Support the Ignite Fundraiser
